Holding Redlich advises MA Financial Group on regional shopping centre transactions

Holding Redlich’s Property & Development team has advised MA Financial Group (MAFG) on the divestment of two significant retail assets in New South Wales – the $62.75 million sale of Gosford Imperial Centre on the NSW Central Coast and the $103 million sale of Corrimal Village, the largest non-metro neighbourhood centre sale nationally since 2021.

For Gosford Imperial Centre, the team managed the transaction from end to end, including extensive vendor due diligence across more than 50 tenancies, complex leasing negotiations (that formed part of the sale documentation), and demolition and relocation issues arising from the centre’s future development. Throughout the process, Holding Redlich worked closely with MAFG to manage risk while ensuring commercial outcomes aligned with investor objectives. The sale ultimately realised a significant uplift in value since the centre’s acquisition in 2021.

The team also managed the entire off-market sale of Corrimal Village, achieving completion in approximately 30 days, significantly ahead of the original two-month target timeframe.

Lead Partner Cameron Sheather said both transactions delivered strong outcomes for MAFG and its investors.

“Our focus throughout both transactions was to support MAFG in achieving its commercial objectives while navigating complex technical and commercial issues. We are pleased to have worked alongside our client to successfully execute both transactions.”

Cameron was supported by special counsel Lauren Stables, senior associates Dominique Kerfoot and Lejla Kamerasevic, associate Maria Hayes and lawyer Annie Papageorgiou.
