Expertise

Anthea is a Senior Associate in the Melbourne Dispute Resolution and Litigation Team, with a particular focus on:

  • corporate and personal insolvency
  • property disputes
  • regulatory investigations
  • complex commercial disputes.

Anthea has worked for large corporate entities, financial institutions, government departments, and regulators. She strives to bring a practical, cost-effective and solution-focused approach to each client and dispute. 

Prior to working at Holding Redlich, Anthea was an Associate to the Honorable Justice Garde in the Supreme Court of Victoria (Commercial Court).

Experience

Anthea has been involved in a number of complex matters, including:

  • acting for a government department as plaintiff in a novel proceeding involving the enforcement of a statutory charge over land, the removal of encumbrances and caveats on title to facilitate settlement, and the distribution of the proceeds of sale to various interested parties
  • acting for ASIC in a proceeding brought against the trustee of a large superannuation fund alleging insurance claims handling failures and related breaches of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth)
  • acting for financial institutions and their appointed receivers in matters relating to the realization of secured assets
  • acting for an unregistered charge holder in an application involving the judicial sale of a property, and a challenge to the validity of a registered mortgage on title
  • various proceedings under the Bankruptcy Act 1966 (Cth), including acting on behalf of creditors in applications for sequestration orders and the setting aside of personal insolvency agreements
  • acting for a liquidator in a proceeding against a director and their insurer claiming compensation for breach of director’s duties and insolvent trading under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth).
