NSW Government

Holding Redlich has extensive experience working for public sector clients in NSW, click here to view our public law and government brochure.

We are delighted to provide agencies using the NSW Government Legal Services Panel with the following value added services:

Telephone Hot Desk

We are pleased to offer a hot desk service where legal officers of NSW Government agencies can call us and discuss an issue without us opening a file and going ‘on the clock’. Whilst there is no artificial time limit for calls to the hot desk service, if an enquiry appears to be complex, then we will talk this through with the legal officer and seek their instructions on whether they would like more detailed advice or assistance. Click here to access the telephone hot desk contact list.

NSW Government Bulletin

Our fortnightly bulletin brings together news and issues affecting the NSW public sector. Readers can access Government Bulletin via email or the LinkedIn Group. For recent editions click here.

Bespoke value adds

Please contact our Panel Relationship Partner or Cluster Relationship Partners if you wish to discuss:

  • precedent development
  • secondments, including reverse secondments
  • agency discovery placements
  • embedding staff at your agency.
Seminars and Training

Seminars and Training

To view a list of upcoming seminars and training workshops we provide click here.

From time to time during the year, we also offer seminars specifically aimed at a NSW Government audience. These include the Legal Eagle Seminar Series which we run for the Institute of Public Administration (IPAA) and a government series which we run for the Association of Corporate Counsel (formerly ACLA). These sessions can include topics such as procurement, compliance and statutory interpretation.

In addition, we host an annual Government lawyers CLE day (usually in February each year). This half day conference includes speakers from the firm as well as prominent guest speakers, who present on a range of legal topics relevant to government lawyers.

We can also design and present bespoke seminars and workshops specifically for our government clients and are usually able to provide these services at no charge. These can also be designed for presentation to multiple government agencies that face common issues, which is a useful way to foster knowledge and relationships across agencies.

Engaging with you and your sector

We also host a Thought Leadership Series for senior government lawyers. This series provides an excellent opportunity for senior lawyers within government to meet and discuss issues they face. Past presenters at our Thought Leadership Series have included the NSW State Coroner, His Honour Magistrate Michael Barnes, Chief Executive Officer of Infrastructure NSW, Jim Betts, Ian Temby QC, the NSW Privacy Commissioner, Dr Elizabeth Coombs and the Commonwealth Disability & Age Discrimination Commissioner, Susan Ryan. We are always happy to take suggestions for our next guest speaker.

Research Assistant

Holding Redlich is pleased to offer New South Wales government priority access to its extensive legal research resources.

Apart from onsite access to our physical library located at our Sydney office, our research assistant can also provide on-demand assistance to procure specific cases or articles which are difficult to locate, or obtainable only via particular subscription services to which we have access. Of course fair-use parameters apply to this service and we would only be in a position to provide such materials where it would not constitute a breach of copyright laws.

If you would like to make use of this service, please email our research assistant directly at: research@holdingredlich.com.

 Legal Research Training

Legal Research Training

Holding Redlich regularly provides legal research training sessions specifically designed for government lawyers.

These sessions cover legal research method, together with the effective use of latest and best free online legal research tools such as BarNet Jade, Fee Fie Foe Firm. LawCite, Legify, AustLII, Mondaq, Lexology and Google. This training is geared towards creating internal value for government by equipping participants to confidently and independently locate current legal information in order to address basic legal problems. Participants at these sessions will also receive a free legal research toolkit to take away.

Our legal research trainers have extensive experience in providing adult education training sessions, with many holding formal qualifications in education and training. We ensure quality training sessions are conducted, using modern adult learning theory and demand for these sessions is high. All sessions are subject to feedback from participants and we will always seek to adapt our training to the particular needs of our audience.

LinkedIn Group

We host a forum for those employed in the public sector in NSW to connect with colleagues old and new and discuss issues unique to the public sector. You can join the LinkedIn group NSW Government Lawyers by clicking here.
